"We take pictures of mountain climbers at the top of the mountain. They are smiling, ecstatic, triumphant. They don't take pictures along the way, because who wants to remember they rest of it? We push ourselves because we have to, not because we like it. The relentless climb... the pain and anguish of taking it to the next level; nobody takes pictures of that. Nobody wants to remember. We just want to remember the view from the top. The breathtaking moment at the edge of the world. That's what keeps us climbing. And it's worth the pain. That's the crazy part. It's worth anything."
How amazing is that? Seriously, just think about any situation in life that you have had to start climbing, take steps back, endure pain, and yet start again on that climb up. When we finally reach that destination - whether it be physical, mental, or emotional - we never want to remember the hardship that we had to go thru to get there. We just want to stand and "admire the view from the top". However, I do believe that we have to "take the pictures" as we make that climb. We have to remember how we got to that final destination. Otherwise, won't we end up taking it for granted at some point? Won't we forget all that we had to endure and the fight that we once had in us that brought us to that wonderful place? We have to remember the parts in the middle or otherwise we will forget who we really are. The core of each of us. The part that we seldom let anyone else see. We will forget the part of us that is buried deep inside until we need it. We will forget the most important part about us that we can claim only as our own. We will forget the fight - our strength. And that is something we should never forget.
